throughout the summer there were several consecutive sessions where someone was missing from our campaign, so we couldn't continue with the main story. we didn't want to drop the entire DND group for upwards of a month, though, so we had different players write different short one shots. for my turn, i put together a really stupid smiling friends themed one shot featuring everyone's players and npcs - and i tried to do smiling friends-esque designs for everyone. it was very very fun.
because i was the game master and the player of wan was out of town, the plot involved ryker committing a hostile takeover of "the cheerful fellowship" and deeming himself the new boss. (he made it illegal to unionize.) he sends the party out on a series of loosely connected side quests to make people happy. (including making dinner for a selkie family, making his parents get divorced, and dispatching jeff the killer.) when they return, they find that wan has beat ryker in a game of uno, and won the entire charity back from him. she legalizes unionizing and everyone is happy.
