tifa of the western forest
level 2 wizard / tav
young adult · unicorn · female (she/her)
tifa's favorite companion is lae'zel.
tifa is a unicorn from a distant wood. like all other unicorns, she was never born - she just simply came to be, and she will continue to be for hundreds of years. tifa lived there for many years - maybe tens, maybe hundreds. she's not sure, she never bothered to keep track. her life was peaceful and quiet, devoid of any trouble, adventure, or conflict - and that was just the way she liked it -- until the day outsiders stepped foot in the woods. they never saw her, but she saw them, and from then on, she became endlesly curious about the world outside. she had never once considered that there might be something beyond the boundary of her forest. seeing these strange creatures, these people, tifa had a hunger awakened within her; a hunger for knowledge and adventure. it's a dangerous trait for a creature like a unicorn.
as a unicorn, tifa has a set of unique powers. she has an inborn ability to do magic, and the intelligence to learn more. her horn is her wand, as well as her lifeline. magic created her and magic sustains her, as is the case with other unicorns as well. most of her magic involves illusions and light, though her power is not limited to just that. tifa's magic causes different people to percieve her in different ways, depending on who's looking and when. some people see just a regular doe running through the woods, and some see her as a fairly unnassuming vaguely elvish woman. the only people who can see her for what she is are those in need of a unicorn's presence - whatever that may mean for them. tifa has no control over this power.
the day tifa finally decided to leave her forest was the day that the nautiloid abducted her. her curiosity was punished with a tadpole to the brain and a crash landing on an unfamiliar beach. no matter what, though, she couldn't bring herself to be afraid. if the worm in her head was what started her adventure, then so be it. as she met other fellow survivors of the crash, it soon became clear that the worm was doing something strange to her magic - the others like her could see her for what she truly was. perhaps it was just because they needed a miracle, or perhaps it was because the worm had weakened her. either way, the people she found would become her friends and companions for the rest of her journey.
tifa is a kind-hearted and rather naive unicorn. she doesn't know much about the outside world, which can make her seem foolish to the others around her. she's endlessly curious, and rather fearless to the point of recklessness. her priorities are perhaps a bit askew - she's the type that likes to frolic and play when she ought to be working, or stop and smell the flowers when she really should be hurrying to her next location. she tries to assume the best of other people, but has no qualms about resorting to violence when it's needed to protect herself or others. everything is brand new and wondrous to her, so despite the gravity of her situation, she's rather carefree...
